The Nós Por Elas Institute was founded in 2021, emerging from an international mobilization to support Afghan female judges threatened by the Taliban regime. Since then, it has evolved into a civil society organization dedicated to promoting women’s rights and combating gender-based violence.
We operate both independently and collaboratively, connecting civil society, businesses, institutions, and public authorities to drive concrete change.
Our initiatives include:
✔ Creating—in partnership with ABNT—Brazil’s first certification for best practices in combating violence against women (ABNT PR 1019);
✔ Participating in the development of public policies and international standards;
✔ Developing awareness-raising and social mobilization campaigns;
✔ Engaging institutionally in strategic arenas, including the Supreme Federal Court.
We believe that protecting women is a collective responsibility and a commitment shared by all of society.
Our initiatives aim to foster lasting transformations capable of generating permanent change and positive social impact.
The certification recognizes organizations committed to building safer, more inclusive and equal environments for women.
Because safer environments generate more humane, sustainable and innovative organizations.
✔ In 2025, the Ligue 180 hotline recorded over 155,000 reports of violence—a 17.4% increase compared to the previous year—equivalent to 425 reports per day.
✔ 70% of the assaults took place within the home, the very space that should represent protection and safety.
✔ More than 339,000 incidents of psychological violence were recorded in 2025 alone.
✔ Brazil recorded approximately 1,530 femicides in 2025—the highest figure in recent records—representing one woman murdered roughly every five hours.
✔ Approximately 3.7 million women experienced domestic or family violence in 2025.
“Red Signal” Campaign
A silent gesture that can save lives.
With a simple “X” on the palm of their hand, women experiencing violence can discreetly ask for help at partner establishments.
Because every woman deserves to be heard and protected.
The Nós Por Elas Institute, in partnership with the Consulate General of Brazil in Rome, developed innovative protocols for assisting Brazilian women abroad and assessing their risk of revictimization.
What began as a pilot initiative has become an institutional benchmark, recognized and recommended by the three branches of government as a model for strengthening policies to protect women.
In partnership with Agência Calia and produced by Santeria, we launched the “Invisible Work” campaign—because the workday doesn’t end when you clock out.
The campaign draws attention to the unequal distribution of domestic and caregiving tasks, a reality that directly impacts women’s economic autonomy and opportunities.
Through videos and awareness-raising initiatives, we invite society to reflect on the inequalities that still exist within the home.
Changing the world also begins with small, everyday transformations.
